RODA AVELAR is a poet and book designer from Fresno, California.
She earned an MFA in creative writing from the University of California Riverside, and a BA in English literature from California State University Fresno.
She is the winner of a 2023 Ruth Lilly and Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Fellowship. In the summer of 2022, she was a Community of Writers fellow. And in the summer of 2019, she was an intern at Milkweed Editions, where she typeset and edited book-length poetry manuscripts.
Her poetry can be found in The Acentos Review; SPORAZINE; ANMLY; About Place Journal; Poetry magazine; Pleiades; and Flies, Cockroaches & Poets.
