I made a zine and called it MY CLOSEST APPROXIMATION
For a couple of days last week, I had a burst of poems come to me.
Of course, they came rough and drafty; they also felt like they belonged together.
I recently stopped smoking weed, mostly because I can't afford to, but I've also come to realize how much it had been keeping me from experiencing myself and my emotions.
The poems are about that; Or, about what has come after that.
It is eight pages long: a title page, an epigraph from Magdalena Bay, 5 poems, and a note on the type.
The front cover is identical to the interior title page.
The back cover, a simple table of contents.
The cover's front flap denotes what number out of 25 printed copies you are currently holding.
The back flap has a short bio, my Instagram handle, and the link to this blog.
I printed it at home, on a printer that doesn't print front & back, and had to load each page one by one (which my printer HATED).
The paper, I had at home.
I used cardstock, embroidery thread, and sewing needles I bought from Michael's.
Ink, new from Office Depot.
All of this done on my pay day, because I had to prioritize making something with this check.
I want to sell these in the near future, but for now you can read it here:
